Lumina is an ECDA-registered international preschool in Singapore, located on Alexandra Road. We’re a small-by-design school for ages 2–6, built on a strong French foundation and shaped by a global outlook. What families feel first at Lumina isn’t a “curriculum statement.” It’s the atmosphere: calm, purposeful, warm, a place where children feel safe to be themselves and supported to grow into confident learners. We offer two language pathways: Bilingual & Trilingual.

Maria Lamrani Alaoui is Lumina’s Founder and School Director, an educational leader who has spent over two decades building schools, training educators, and supporting families across continents.

Over the past 23+ years, Maria has worked across Europe, Africa, and Asia as a teacher, principal, trainer, and family coach. She has seen how deeply children flourish when a school places wellbeing, neuroscience-informed practice, and humanity at the centre — not as an “extra,” but as the foundation. That is Lumina: a school that values the whole child, blends academic rigour with emotional intelligence, and welcomes families as true partners. Siti

PRINCIPAL & ENGLISH TEACHER

Siti is an English Teacher at Lumina, bringing over a decade of experience in early childhood education, leadership, and curriculum development. With a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education with Leadership, she is deeply committed to nurturing confident, capable learners through meaningful and positive learning experiences.
Originally from Singapore, Siti believes children are curious, competent, and motivated learners who thrive when given choice, challenge, and a secure environment to explore and express themselves. At Lumina, she is inspired by the centre’s multicultural community, collaborative spirit, and shared commitment to growth and excellence.
Beyond her professional role, she enjoys reading, cooking, baking, travelling, and spending time with her family. She believes that when people feel valued and inspired, both children and educators are empowered to do their best work.
Vita (Yang LaoShi)

MANDARIN TEACHER

Yang LaoShi is an experienced Mandarin teacher at Lumina, specializing in working with young learners. Originally from China, she brings a thoughtful and hands-on approach to her teaching. Her career is driven by a passion for continuous learning, a genuine love for working with children, and a desire to create meaningful impact through education.
Yang LaoShi was drawn to Lumina by its vibrant multicultural environment, collaborative spirit, and the opportunity to grow while contributing to meaningful work. At Lumina, she values the openness, trust, and positive energy that make each day both engaging and fulfilling.
Outside the classroom, Yang LaoShi enjoys meditation, traveling, and exploring new ideas that inspire creativity. She believes that when people feel valued and motivated, great achievements follow naturally.
Clemence

FRENCH TEACHER & CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
Clémence’ path has always been guided by a genuine curiosity about people and a strong desire to help create safe, meaningful spaces where children can grow with confidence. With a background in psychology and hands-on school experience, Clémence brings a thoughtful, grounded approach to supporting each child as an individual.
Over the past years, she has accompanied children and adolescents aged 4 to 18 in both mainstream and specialised school environments. Working closely with students, teachers, and families has given her a deep understanding of children’s emotional, social, and learning needs — in the classroom and beyond.
Outside of work, Clémence loves writing, exploring new cultures, spending time in nature, and getting lost in a good philosophical book. She believes that curiosity, care, and creativity make great work possible.
HanYu (Zhao LaoShi)

MANDARIN TEACHER

Zhao Laoshi is a Chinese Language Teacher at Lumina with 8 years of experience in early childhood education. Originally from China, she truly enjoys spending time with children and exploring the world together with curiosity and wonder. Children often have the most imaginative ideas, and their creative expressions never fail to inspire and surprise her.
Zhao Laoshi was drawn to Lumina for three main reasons. First, Lumina’s multicultural environment values mutual respect, active listening, and openness to different perspectives. Second, Lumina encourages educators to think from the child’s perspective when designing curriculum and experiences. Third, Lumina respects each child’s natural development.
Outside of work, Zhao Laoshi enjoys travelling and playing the ukulele. She has a genuine love for life and continues to inspire herself to be a dream chaser — one who carries dreams in her heart, light in her eyes, and a clear path beneath her feet.
Suppu

NURSE

Suppu is an experienced School nurse and Assistant Teacher at Lumina, specializing in working with young learners. Originally from Singapore, Suppu brings a thoughtful approach to everything she does. Her career journey has been shaped by passion for people, learning and as well as the love to work with kids and desire to create a meaningful impact through her work.
What motivated Suppu to join Lumina was its amazing multi-cultural background, collaborative environment and the opportunity to grow while contributing to work that truly matters. At Lumina, she enjoys the openness, the trust and shared energy that makes every day engaging and rewarding.
Outside of work, Suppu enjoys going to the gym, travelling and exploring new ideas that spark creativity. She believes that when people feel valued and inspired, great work naturally follows.
